Leslie Payne
Teacher - Physical Education

  • From Washington DC
  • 25 years teaching experience; 24 in Emery!
  • BA in Radio, TV, and Film at Howard University,
Teaching Credential (English & Physical Education) at
    Cal State East Bay
I hold the highest expectations for all of my physical education students. I fully expect the respect & positivity I show to
them to be reciprocated & to be on display as they interact with their peers. I recognize that some activities may challenge
students more than others, but that notwithstanding, I expect every student to give his/her best effort to develop the skills necessary for full participation in every activity. First and foremost, I want all of my students to enjoy my physical education class. I try hard to make it fun & challenging in the hopes of keeping them fully engaged. I hope that they will develop a
lifelong love of sports & physical activity and come to recognize the positive impact that staying physically active will have
on their lives for many years to come. One of the most satisfying aspects of my job is being able to observe concrete
progress & growth. There is nothing better than the look of pride on a child's face when they reach a goal that eluded them in the past. Knowing that that goal was achieved as a result of their hard work & perseverance builds a confidence that will

transcend our PE class.
